Welcome
Greetings Jackson Family!!!
It's been awhile since we've had an update but it has also been awhile since we've had a family gathering. Thanks to Cathy we'll be getting together real soon. We're having a family gathering on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 5:00. Shandra and Jonathan Jones have graciously opened their home to us. If you need directions please contact Shandra. For the exact address please check your emails. I sent an updated email on Saturday evening.
As Cathy mentioned (in email) we are so long overdue to see each other, love on each other, and just embrace our family. We have new babies in the family, new happenings in the family, we just need to catch up with each other. The gathering will be a pot luck dinner. Every one bring a dish/sides (the meat will be provided), bring a dessert, bring the cards, bring on the dominos, and let’s have a good time. Be sure to put the date on your calendar, tell all the family we are getting together.(Saturday, November 21, 2009 @ 5 pm) Also, we would love ideas on how we as the Jackson Family can make a food donation to a shelter, or needed fund to help others during this Thanksgiving season. If you know of an organization accepting food donations, please contact Cathy. For loved ones a far if you happen to be in the D/FW area during the gathering feel free to pop in. If not you are in our thoughts and prayers! We also want to extend our thoughts and prayers to Kenneth Jr and his family, with the horrible tragedy that happened at Ft. Hood, TX. We're blessed and happy to say that he nor his family was involved in it. Praise God!!!!!!!!!!!!
In parting I'd like to leave with a quote.
"Life should be like math; Add joy into it, subtract sorrow and pain, multiply family and friends, and make sure love is undivided."

Our Family History:
The Jackson Family
There was a man by the name of William Edgar Jackson aka Son Jackson who was born in Waxachie, Texas on May 8, 1908. He was the oldest of four children. They were born to the parentage of Grandpa Jeff and Mattie Jackson aka Big Mama. Their children were William Edgar, Sally aka Chi Chi (Robbie Mae, Harvey, A.D.), Annie Mae (no children), and Leo Tennison aka L.T.(Stella Rogers, Leo Tennison, Jr., and Eddie Archie). The family were sharecroppers in Anderson County portion of Texas.
There is very little information known on Grandpa Jeff Jackson. However there are vague memories of him having two uncles, Arny, Roy (Athens, Texas), and one sister Mary (Waxachie, TX). The children were very young when their father passed away of pneumonia. It was said that he passed with his young child (L.T.) in his arms.
Big Mama was the youngest of 17 siblings born to Ruben and Nellie Wiggins on January 3, 1883 in Anderson County (TX). There were only a few siblings known to the family from the 17 children, and they were Dona and Mamie. Dona did not have children and Mamie had one daughter, Ola. After the death of Grandpa Jeff, she continued in leading her family. Big Mama had a musical talent of strumming the guitar. And in her younger days she would play her guitar on weekends. She really enjoyed herself when playing her guitar. She later married Henry Lee aka Mr. Slim. She was a church worker as Sunday school teacher in the A.M.E. church as well as a wonderful cook. She passed away on January 17, 1970 (Dallas, TX).
William Edgar married Alice McCrimmon and they both brought 2 children into their marriage and had a total of 10 children to love and raise. Grandmother Alice had a baby boy Jimmy that passed away as an infant. The remainder of their children are Edgar Archie (deceased), Annie Jean, Willie Paul (deceased), Mary Louise, Nellie Pearl, Ora Lee (deceased), William Charles, Linda Sue, Shirley Faye (deceased), and Mattie Jane.
William served some years in the U.S. Navy and worked at Baird's bakery for several years and also as a gas attendent for Corner's Service Station. It has been said many times that William was a very strict father that raised his children to be prideful, to walk with your head held high, and to be industrial, and the value of work. There are memories of washing walls, cleaning under the house, sweeping the yard, and scrubbing the outside toilet, so to say that he was a very immaculate and cleanly man was an understatement.
He fell ill due to a leakage of the heart and passed away on December 16, 1971.
The McCrimmon Family
Once upon a time there was a lady by the name of Alice Marie McCrimmon who was born in Bullard, Texas on November 10, 1913. The parents names were Mack and Ora McCrimmon. The name of the children are Alice Marie, Cardine aka Mack (Marion, Caroline, Michael E aka Mack E, Ernest), Ira (Marlon, daughter aka Red, another daughter (further research), and another son), Laura Mae (no children), Nita Bell (Nita Louise), another sister named Laura (no kids), Emma (James), and Maggie (no kids) . What we know today as cancer is what illustrates the illness that Grandma Ora passed away from in 1921. Due to the children being so young, Grandma Ora's brother, Uncle Earl Jones and his loving wife Mary took the children to Crandall, Texas and raised them as their own. Uncle Earl Jones had three children from a previous marriage. The childrens names were Jesse, CloriAnn, and Lucille.
While in Crandall Alice met and married William Edgar Jackson. They moved to Dallas and had a total of 10 beautiful children. There is a memory of Earl and Mary Jones, coming and taking Alice to deliver the babies while William was serving his country in the U.S. Navy. They both assumed roles as grandparents for all of the children. Alice worked at Rose Dress Shop doing alterations and pressing garments as well as domestic work. When the family would go on cotton picks, Alice was known for her cooking of (WOO-WEE!!!) down South foods. She would sale dinners from Friday to Sunday to many families in the neighborhood. William and Alice were members of New Waverly Baptist Church and later joined Progressive Baptist Church and were very diligent in insisting on their children attending services. Alice was a member of the choir and a teacher of the Missionary Society.
In later years she became very ill with cancer, and again Earl and Mary were right by her side along with her husband and her children. Alice passed away on April 17, 1961. When Alice passed away, her youngest sister Laura and her husband, Brown gave great support to the family.
Ok so now you know a little of our history of both sides of the family and how we all are linked. It's wonderful to be able to share this information with the family. Thanks to our wonderful family members for performing the research to provide this information to make it available online for us all. I hope you enjoyed reading your history and hope that you gained a sense of knowledge and pride.
And remember the family motto...."Family is EVERYTHING, everything is FAMILY!!!"
The "Family History" will be an on going research.
